We know your time is precious. There is no doubt that you would rather be doing the things you enjoy with the people you love the most instead of doing your laundry. You don’t want to fill your time off with spending hours doing the laundry only to have to go back again next week and repeat it. There are many reasons why you should be using a laundry pickup and delivery service. Here are just a few you should know.
Sneakers are certainly not just for athletes – they’re for everyone. But, whether you need specialty shoes for specific sports, fashion-or run-of-the-mill basics they all need to be cleaned now and then. Before you begin be sure to check the manufacturer’s instructions/ recommendations to make sure they can be cleaned in the washer. You can usually find this info online with a quick google search.
Those of us with pets will testify to the tremendous amount of love and joy they bring into our lives. My cat loves to wake me up each morning by sitting on my stomach and purring, while the dog lays on the bed next to her, patiently waiting for my eyes to pop open so he can smother me with morning kisses. He’s as excited to see me when I wake up as he is when I come home from work, and I’m equally excited to see them.
Have you ever taken a shirt out of the washer and found it covered with mysterious orange stains? If this has happened to you, you were probably completely stupefied by the incident. What could have caused such a catastrophic laundry mishap? Could it have been the detergent you used? Could it have been dye from a different garment? Did an orange marker somehow make its way into your washer? Although all of these are great theories, there is one likely culprit that you would never suspect. It comes in either a lotion or spray and you’ve been lathering it on since skin cancer became a well known health threat. I’m talking about sunscreen; great for your skin, terrible for your clothes.
People often outsource their lawn care, house cleaning, window washing, and other tasks that they either don’t have time for, don’t have the experience to do it properly, or simply don’t want to do it. But most people never consider signing up for a laundry service until they actually try out our service and end up loving it!
Neat and clean bedding goes a long way in ensuring a healthy, good night’s sleep. Of course, washing bedding regularly can be a challenge merely because of its bulky size which is why these items are best washed at a laundromat instead of at home. They need a lot of space and delicate treatment that can only be assured in a laundromat.
Wondering how to make your task easier at the laundromat? We are here to help! Read on as we give you laundromat tips for washing bedding and other bulky items like comforters, blankets, bedspreads, and so on.
Prepping Quilt, Comforters And Bedding For Laundry
- Stains – A bedding does not have too much space to move in the washer as other small items, hence, there is a high probability that the stains won’t get removed. Hence the need to pretreat stains in your bedding before taking it to the laundromat.
- Tears – Repair any tear in your bedding at home before taking it for a wash. Otherwise, there is a good chance that a small tear might become a large tear after the wash or all the filling might spill out during the washing process.
- Care Labels – Always read the care labels on your bedding, comforter, bedspread, or quilts to be sure you follow the instructions closely otherwise you may end up damaging them.
Washing Bedding At The Laundromat
- Machines – Bedding, comforters, and the like are bulky items and require a lot of space when laundered. Commercial washers and dryers in laundromats are perfect for washing these types of items. Choose a machine at the laundromat where your bedding fits in with some space left so that it gets cleaned properly.
- Detergent – Using the right detergent for bedding important, as a harsh detergent can harm the filling in your bedding. The amount of detergent you use is also important as too much detergent can leave residues. Select a mild detergent and use an amount that is a little less than normal to ensure a perfect wash!
- Drying – You need to make sure that your bedding is dried out properly before you leave the laundromat. While bedding needs more time in the drier, be sure the heat settings are not too high to avoid damage to your bedding. A favorite tip is to use dryer balls or tennis balls to not only assist in an even drying out process but also make your bedding fluffier when it comes out!

When it comes to the products you use to wash your clothes, you have options. And two of the most popular options when it comes to detergent are liquid and powder. Curious as to which type of detergent is better? We’ll break down some of the pros and cons of each:
Liquid Detergent
- It’s more convenient, as it’s less messy. You just pour what you need to use into the cup and then distribute it into the washer. It’s also packaged more conveniently, so it’s easy to carry, use and reseal in between uses.
- It dissolves without hassle because it’s already in liquid form.
- It can serve as a stain treater when applied directly to stains prior to wash cycles, something that powder detergent often cannot do.
Powder Detergent
- It’s effective. While liquid detergent may have many convenience benefits, know that powder detergent is still very effective if you’re buying the right type.
- It’s cheaper. Liquid detergent typically comes in more convenient packaging, which can be nice — at least up until it comes to price. Powder detergent is typically sold in a box, which makes it a cheaper overall purchase.
- Though it’s designed to dissolve, some of it might chunk up in the wash.
The bottom line is that both powder and liquid detergent are great solutions under a few conditions. One, make sure you’re buying the detergent with the ingredients necessary to get your clothes clean. And two, stick to your personal preference. Some cost-conscious consumers might feel that powder is worth the cost savings in the grand scheme of things. Others might prefer the convenience and ease of use of liquid detergent to justify the price increase. It’s all about your personal preference, but know you really can’t go wrong with either.
At Wash Bar, we request you use liquid detergent.
Even though powder detergent can do an adequate job at cleaning your laundry, we find that powder can make a mess and cause build up on the washing machines as well as make for a sticky clean-up.
You wouldn’t think that a laundromat and a viral-worthy Instagram picture would go hand-in-hand, but more and more social media personalities are heading there to take their latest outfit pictures to impress their followers.
Yes, it’s a bit odd, but laundromats actually make for a pretty cool and unique backdrop. And models posing for photos at laundromats aren’t anything new — they’ve been doing it for fashion magazines dating all the way back to 1995. In fact, models ranging from Kate Moss to Gemma Ward have posed for professional pics at the laundromat. One of the reasons it’s fun to take pics in a laundromat is because it’s typically not a place where people go dressed in their Sunday’s best. But we don’t think “Laundrograms” should be shared by just models and celebrities. There’s no reason why you can’t take and share your own. Here’s a look at some tips to do it:
- Strike a pose: Don’t just take a picture standing in a laundromat. Make sure there’s some sort of unique action or you’re in a unique pose. Sit on a washer or dryer, stand next to a front-loading washer in action, slyly carry a laundry basket down an aisle. You get the picture (pun intended) — do something to make your snap pop. Have some fun with this!
- Use filters: Filters can really add to your laundrogram, especially if you’re in a unique outfit. If you’re in old-fashioned wear, give it a black and white filter. If you’re wearing spring colors, use a bright filter.
- Switch it up: Don’t just take one pose in one outfit, take a whole gallery of pictures in various outfits. Then post to your Instagram account as a photo gallery and not just a one-off picture. It can be a nice way to showcase all of the cool shots the laundromat has to offer.
So, what do you think? Is a laundrogram something that you can pull off? Give it a try! Be creative! And most importantly, have fun while you’re doing it!

Laundry is necessary for keeping your clothes clean and nice, and it’s not difficult to do once you get the basics down. We’ll go over those basics here in this handy laundry guide for beginners. Have a look:
Laundry 101: A Quick Guide for Beginners
- Sort your clothes: We suggest sorting your clothes into three piles: darks, lights and a mixed load. Put all dark garments into the dark pile, white and off-white garments into the light pile, and gray and tan items into the mixed pile. You want to pre-sort your laundry so colors don’t bleed in the wash. For instance, if you wash a red shirt with white clothes, the red will turn the white clothes pink.
- Pick a load: Depending on the washer, you may be able to select a load size (i.e., small, medium, large). Wash whites and lights in warm water and everything else in cold water. Hot water should only be used for disinfecting purposes, like with bath towels and washcloths. Start each load by letting water fill the tub, then add the detergent. Once the detergent fully dissolves in the water, add your clothes to the load.
- Set the load: There are various load settings, but you’ll probably be washing most on a normal load. There’s also a gentle load cycle option and a permanent press cycle for more delicate items.
- Dry it: After the wash cycle is done, it’s time to dry. For sweaters and items you’re worried about shrinking, dry them at a low heat or hang them to dry. For things like undershirts and underwear, a hot drying cycle should be fine. Check the tag on garments to see how the manufacturer recommends drying them if you’re unsure what is best.
Laundry may seem intimidating, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy to do — and it’s a great thing to know how to do!
